Project Areas

TRIAS Uganda and UNYFA are implementing the WeWork - green and decent jobs for youth Project which is targeting youth aged 15-35 years in Jinja and Kamuli districts. The general objective of the project is to improve and sustain the livelihoods for 400 vulnerable youth (80% 15-35 years old, 50% women/girls) through access to self-employment opportunities in Kamuli and Jinja. The WeWork – green and decent jobs for youth project is an ongoing initiative co-funded by the European Union and the Belgian Government under the Global Gateway strategy.

Under the Livelihoods and right to food programme, UNYFA aims to enhance the Resilient Young Farmers Initiative for Sustainability and Empowerment (RISE). This will contribute to the realization of the right to food for women, men, children and youth. The project operates in; Central Region: Masaka, Mubende, Ssembabule, Nakasongola and Eastern Region: Jinja, Kamuli, Buyende, Iganga. The project is funded by WeEffect.

The FOVL is a digital platform that is geared towards helping farmers in the modern-day era to gain easy access to information regarding agriculture, anytime, anywhere, instantly. The platform is up and running with over 4500 videos for various stages of agricultural value chains being sourced monthly, edited, and translated into Luganda, Swahili and French languages, and uploaded for farmers to better their farming practices. The CoffeeXchange programme was a German-Ugandan youth programme implemented from June 2025 to March 2026 by UNYFA and the Schorlemer Foundation of the German Farmers’ Association (DBV e.V.). It connected youth from Uganda and Germany to explore the coffee value chain, from production in Uganda to marketing in Germany, while promoting sustainable partnerships and fair-trade practices. It entailed practical learning, farm visits, and intercultural exchange, participants as participants gained knowledge in coffee production, value addition, entrepreneurship, networking, and sustainable business development. The programme brought together young coffee farmers, agricultural students, and young professionals to develop ideas that could contribute to improved livelihoods for coffee farmers and stronger international collaboration. The programme was funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) under the “Teams Up! Youth Encounters for Sustainable Development” programme.

UNYFA periodically engages all its members through various visits, trainings and capacity building sessions, where facilitation of formidable leadership structures takes place. We also help these farmer organizations to attract and retain members, as a way attaining sustainable development.

ECAWA was a 28-month project jointly implemented by UNYFA and the German Association of Rural Women (dlv) from 2023 to 2025. The project sought to empower young rural women engaged in agribusiness by improving their skills, opportunities, and participation in the agricultural sector. The project targeted 400 rural female youth aged 12 to 39 years who were actively engaged in agriculture, with a particular focus on marginalized young women, including school dropouts and those in early marriages. A total of 32 women travelled to Germany and 8 women travelled to Kenya, where they learnt about Organizational Development, advocacy, networking and leadership. The project was implemented in the West Nile and Northern regions of Uganda.
